Slave Cabin, Booker T Washington National Monument

The interior of a reconstructed one-room cabin once used as slave quarters (before that obscene practice became history). Located in the Booker T Washington National Monument in Moneta, Virginia.

The shot itself was made with a Yashica-A TLR on Kodak Tri-X film. Pretty sure I used a red filter in an attempt to pull down the exposure outside the window (mostly green vs the brown interior) and it worked enough to keep just the barest detail out there without needing radical manipulations in the darkroom. Print was on Ilford MGIV and developed in Ansco 130.


I did burn in the light area of the floor a small amount, just to avoid it being so bright that it threw the composition out of balance. Otherwise it's a straight print.
